Sculpture: Rhombic Triacontahedron IV
The sculpture is based on rhombic triacontahedron (RTC), which is convex polyhedron with 30 rhombic faces.
It has full symmetry of icosahedron.
One of the stellations of RTC consists of 30 intersecting rhombic faces.
Each of 30 rhombi in that stellation is replaced with modified loxodrome.
Standard Loxodrome is trace of a plane, which is flying around the globe with constant rhumb - angle
between meridian and direction of travel. It looks like logarithmic spiral near south and north pole - fixed
points of loxodrome.
Our loxodrome was made from standard one by conformal transformation of the sphere to shift fixed points to
vertices of RTC and by bending in the middle to avoid intersections of different loxodromes.
